What will you do in a power outage?

July 30th, 2011

We like the Be Prepared California website because it gives easy to read safety tips for natural disaster and emergency situations.  Check out the link on our Disaster Hazards and Safety Preparedness page to read about Safety in a Power Outage.  Here are a few highlights…

  • Did you know food in a half-full refrigerator is safe for 24 hours?
  • How much, and what kind of household bleach do you need to make water safe for drinking if you are unable to boil it?
  • Do you know what to do if someone is red hot, but not sweating?  You may have read it before somewhere, but read it again, you might save a life!

For more information on this topic, get The Red Guide to Recovery – Resource Handbook for Disaster Survivors, available now as an e-Book from barnesandnoble.com or from iTunes as an e-Book or mobile app.
